In iTest 3.4, we decided to not show session windows for telnet and other applications which can execute without any UI. This was done for several reasons:
1. Since there are no windows opening up for these sessions, iTest uses less memory and CPU to run steps for these sessions.
2. Some users like to use iTest for developing testcases while at the same time running tests through itestcli. When this used to happen in 3.3, user could not use iTest GUI because session windows constantly keep appearing, disappearing and stealing focus.
In your second paragraph, you state that a web testcase with telnet steps in it shows telnet session window. This should not happen with iTest 3.4 - you should never see any telnet window when script is executed from itestcli.
We have already filed a feature request for people to show session windows when tests are executed through itestcli. We will consider it for a future release.
