Hi Rao, This error "**SNMP trap daemon failed to start on port 162: Permission denied**" is seen in Linux, when iTest is running with non-root user privileges. Try to start iTest as root user from terminal, please follow the following steps to start iTest as root user. 1. Open Terminal. 2. Give this command "cd /home/"path"/Spirent_Communications/iTest_4.2/" the "path" refers to the path of iTest installation folfer. 3. Now start iTest using this command "sudo ./iTest". Now try to start the SNMP session with port:162, we can observe "**SNMP trap daemon successfully started (162)**" in SNMP console. Its recommended to start iTest with root user privileges, when using SNMP session in Linux. Thanks, Sai.

If you are running on a Linux or Solaris system, then iTest can only open ports below 1024 if you are logged in as root.  You may wish to configure the port that the SNMP trap daemon listens on in preferences. But then you will also have to make sure that your devices are sending traps to this new port.

Also, if you are not using SNMP traps, you can safely ignore this error message.
