Burst size calculation on Spirent Test Center

Hello,

I'm trying to generate a traffic stream with load = 10 Mbps, frame size = 64 bytes and Committed Burst Size (CBS) = 97kbps. The load and frame size are pretty clear but I'm not sure how to set my traffic to have that CBS.

Appreciate if someone can help me with the traffic setting.

From what I understand CBS = number of bytes sent at max rate for a certain time duration.

I'll assume 97kbs means a burst of 97000 bits. A 64 byte frame need to add IFG and preamble which adds up to an additional 20 bytes, so 84 bytes = 672 bits. Calculate 97000/672 = about 144 frames that can fit in a burst of 97000 bits. In Spirent TestCenter set the burst size to 144 frames to set the CBS.

TestCenter will automatically set the burst interval to adhere to the 10Mbps load.

Hallo, I would suggest to change to Priority Mode, generate one stream with constant load and a second one with the burst.
