how to configure SUT and physical interface in Landslide when you simulate node and nodal?

I installed a TAS and a TS on EXSi and I'd like to do a test where I will simulate all elements: node and nodal. However, I'm not sure what to select in SUT and in Physical interfaces under the Network Devices section because nothing is shown in the list. I don't find a way to configure this, I think I may need to create the physical interfaces somewhere before doing that step in the session?

Hi @NMOLINERO,

Once VM's are instantiated:

1. Configure management interfaces: On each VM, run IPCFG to configure network properties and point the TS to the TAS. (video walk-through available at TRN10622 on the CSC http://support.spirent.com)

2. Access the Landslide Browser home page by browsing to the TAS IP address

3. Launch TAS Manager console to apply your license. You will need to provide the TAS fingerprint to Spirent support using the "New Support Case" link on the top right of the CSC home page.

4. Launch the Landslide client, and use TS Admin to add the Test Server Eth0 management IP Address, apply a license to the TS on the same window, then click the Configure button on TS Admin to enable Eth interfaces on boot from the "Other/DPDK" tab.

5. With Eth interfaces configured and enabled on boot, you will be able to select an interface and pool IP address on any licensed test application.

Note: When you are testing Node/Nodal, the SUT on the Nodal will point to the IP address configured on the Node. There are several hands-on labs for examples on the CSC, including AAA, GPRS, and UMTS.

I hope this helps!

Debbie

Thanks @Debbie Landis ! I can do everything except this part of point 4: click the Configure button on TS Admin to enable Eth interfaces on boot from the "Other/DPDK" tab

I have the tab "Other Ethernet DPDK-1", but it's empty and the options are: Refresh, Backup, Open, Apply and Close. I think none of them allow me to add an interface. Not sure if I'm missing something?

That tab populates with interfaces created/enabled when the VM was instantiated. Eth0 is the management port, Eth1+ are for test traffic. The only VM which uses a single Interface is the TAS (Test Administration Server) which connects to the production network and is used for system management only (Communication between User and TAS and between TAS and TS).

If you do not see any interfaces listed on the TS Admin "Other/DPDK" tab, you can try rebooting the VM to detect configured interfaces, or check the VM configuration properties to ensure multiple Interfaces.

I hope this helps,

Debbie

@Debbie Landis I've checked the TS VM ifconfig output, and there were only one interface, which is used for the TS management. I turned off that VM and added another network adapter with the same configuration as the existing one, but when I turned it on again, and did ifconfig, only the old interface was shown (where, this is the loopback interface too). Maybe there is a limitation in the VM itself? Thank you!

Hi @Debbie Landis I managed to add the Eth interface as you explained. I can't find the examples that you mentioned in the CSC with tests examples. Could you please share them? Thank you!!
