RE: Avalanche : What do the various Avalanche Performance tests do?

Hello Spirent Forums.

While reading FAQ10864, I was wondering if there is an explanation of each "Default_X" Client load profile that is suppose to be matched to each protocol test (see attached). Essentially, what I am requesting is a performance test case matrix of some sort that will match my client/server profiles to each respective pre-canned test

Thank you for your patience in advance

This is very complex request since it is not just the Load Specification that dictates what amount of load is created by Avalanche, but also depends on:

-the Number of URLs in the Action List

- the type of Protocols used

-if SimUser Think Time is being used to hold the Connection open

- the size of the of the Server Response

- how many TCP Connections can the SimUser have open with the Server

In summary:

- To generate a high number of Connections per Second, typically you want a large number of URLs in the Action List, and small file sizes

- To generate high Bandwidth, typically you want the Server to return large files sizes 100K-500K

- To generate a high number of Open TCP Connections, typically you want a large number of URLs in the Action List, and SimUser Think Time

Please refer to the Avalanche Load Control Course available on Spirent Campus for detailed information of information regarding Load Control on the Avalanche systemcuserslbalcerakdocumentsa.jpg

The tests should have never been created with the word Default since this is a very ambiguous term which can cause confusion. The only way to identify which Default_X Load Profile is used is to look at the Client Association for test that you have opened.

I would like to request the Default_X Client load profile be renamed in order to avoid confusion within Avalanche in future releases if possible.

@LBalcerak Ok, I understand. However, I would like to know which "Default_X" client profile is paired with each respective performance test suite. Based on the screenshot, its difficult to determine which client load profile is used with each test suite, I have been trying to determine this by counting each profile that isnt labeled "SIPNG"
