Can we generate the AS_Path automatically in the BGP routes?

The customer would like to generate random AS Numbers under the AS_Paths in the BGP route without having to enter them manually. I believe there is no option in GUI. Is there a workaround?

Also, are there any plans of adding this in the future?

Thank you.

Next to the AS Path field, you have an AS Path Increment, form here, you can create random increments. COmbine this with the next field, AS Path per Block, and you can generate up to 64k unique, pseudo-random AS Path blocks per row. And, unique to Spirent, you can change these attibutes live while BGP is up.

,

In the BGP attributes Editor, you can set the base AS Path, then use the AS Path Increment to set in different incrementing value (You can load a list form a file). In addition, you can advertise of to 64k unique paths per block by changing the AS Path per Block Count . Thsi woudl giev you a large number of pseudo-random AS paths, with reproducibility.

Thank you but the customer wouldn't like to add anything manually. The steps he's expecting is:

  1. Create BGP device
  2. Create Routes
  3. Enable "auto AS Path generation" (which will create suffixes as shown in the screenshot)
  4. Start BGP

STC currently expects the user to add these AS Path suffixes manually.
