can we create RA message for SLAAC in ipv6?
Hi,as we know, in ipv6, SLAAC means host gets prefix information in RA to configure its own ipv6 address, but otherthan connecting to a real router in uplink, can we manually create a downstream RA message, and set a ipv6 autoconfiguration device in userport to retreive this RA? It seems this does not work, the device is not bound, anyone confirm?
Hi, It wont respond. We can manually send the RA message but automatically it wont respond when it gets RS from DUT. Regards, Sukesh
Attached is a config file with two ports. The first port has an IPv6 device setup for IPv6 autoconfiguration. The 2nd port does not have an IPv6 device but a raw stream block to simulate the Router Advertisement. Start the IPv6 autoconfiguration on the first port, then start traffic on the 2nd port. can we simulate DUT (a Cisco Router in your setup) by creating a raw RA msg manually ? I tried but it's not working (I am testing an Alcatel Lucent ISAM platform between two test center ports). I mean, sending a manually configured DS RA to a SLAAC client, does client will respond to this RA?? In a word, simulating router by sending a RA
Hi, We can emulate only client side of SLAAC using Spirent TestCenter emulated device, we can not emulate Server side- it should be DUT. But we can create raw streamblocks to send RA and RS messages on ports and use command sequencer to send those. hi, Sukesh, I saw your config file, but it has only one port, right? I guess you directly connect STC to a Cisco router, then you only need to creat a SLAAC device, the router will send out the RA msg..... But what i really mean is instead of using a real router, if we have two ports(STC), can we create a RA msg maually(add raw stream) in one port and a SLAAC device in another port, and SLAAC can be done all right?? Is this possioble??? Cheers
