iTest 4.1.3 - crashes when saving Global Parameter File

Been trying to run iTest 4.1.3 under Ubuntu Linux 11.04 (32-bit).

I try to save my global Parameter File, and I always get a "Save Failed" and "Out of emory error".

Is this a known issue, or is it specific to my setup?

Anyone else getting the same issue?

What can I do to help Spirent/Fanfare debug this?

A few things I did notice:

1. When viewing the Parameter File in an XML viewer (I use XTrans) - it looks huge with lots of wasted whitespace.

2. When saving the Parameter File from the Windows version of iTest 4.1.3, it does seem to take longer than I would expect it to take (5-6 seconds?).

Thanks

Actually - I just got the same error saving my Global Parameter File from within Windows iTest 4.1.3 (never had it happen before under Windows).

Yikes - just noticed that the Parameter File is 59MB - even though the data in it is really not that large.  It is 73KB zipped (attached) - I'd assume there is a bug in the saving logic for the Parameter File.

Hi,

I am able to reproduce this issue using your attached parameter.fftp file. Thanks for providing the file.

I have logged a bug to investigate further and  will  update you soon.

Thanks,

As a workaround, could you please increase the RAM settings to 1024M from default 384M value. I tried now and it works just fine.

Please let us know.

Thanks,

Go to iTest installation folder, edit "iTest.ini" file, change the value for "-Xmx384M" to "-Xmx1024M".

Thanks - it looks like iTest is adding a LOT of '\' characters (as well as spaces and carriage returns) within the file everytime it saves.

Once I removed the '\' characters, the file was down to <20KB - and muuuuuch faster to save to.

Yes, we know of "space" issue . This is going to get fixed in future release.

Thanks,
