What activities can I do on the Spirent Forums that earn me Reputation Points?
The Spirent Forums uses Reputation Points (formerly called Karma Points on the Spirent Forums) as a way to recognize users for their contributions to the Spirent Forums, and it also roughly equates to how much the Spirent Forums community trusts you. As you participate in the Forums, you will be awarded these Reputation Points, especially if you provide insight, input and answers that benefit the community. There is no limit to the number of points you can earn, and the points will never go below zero.
Beyond the community's appreciation for your contributions (and the satisfaction of having a nice high Point Score), we also offer community privileges to the users that earn enough points.
Given the value we place on good Karma Point scores, here are the specific points provided (or taken away):
Please note that these point values were modified on April 2, 2014, and can be subject to further changes without notice. The one measure that has a high chance of being changed in the future is the "Points Earned for Giving an Upvote", which may be set to zero in the future to better recognize the folks that take the time to make more significant contributions to the Forums.
We launched a new Spirent Forums design on October 17, 2014 during which we removed downvoting. The description above has also been modified to remove the downvoting point changes.
