Does a Spirent TestCenter C1 chassis support a Latency Resolution of 10 nsec?
Spirent TestCenter chassis have built in clocks and a single chassis is by default synchronized to itself. With modular chassis such as the 2U, 3U, 9U, 11U, etc., these clocks have a Latency Resolution of 10 nsec; 2.5 nsec for 40/100 Gigabit ports. Is this also true for the C1 chassis and up to 10 Gigabit ports?
The Spirent TestCenter C1 chassis does support a Latency Resolution of 10 nsec in a single standalone chassis just like the other chassis do. However, for remote chassis synchronization the Spirent TestCenter C1 only supports NTP (i.e.. not GPS or CDMA like the other chassis do). Therefore, from chassis to chassis, whenever a C1 is involved, the Latency Resolution is between 1 and 50 msec which is the NTP accuracy and is dependent on network conditions.
