Error:"The current topology is invalid or doesn't exist" when capturing steps

When I try to capture steps to be added to a test case I keep getting a pop-up error that says > The current topology is invalid or doesn't exist I don't want to use a topology. How do I stop this error from happening?

Hi, Could you please try the below steps and let me know the results. 1. Check the Testcase/Session Profile Dependencies (Right click and properties) 2. Clean the project. 3. Rebuild the Project Dependencies. Attached is the screenshot for your reference. ![alt text][1] [1]: /storage/temp/3452-clean.jpg

Hi. I performed these steps and still cannot add steps by capturing due to the same error. 1. Clean my_project 2. Rebuild my_project 3. Develop a test case -> Create a new test case under my_project. "Associate a topology" is not selected. 4. Click "Add steps by capturing" 5. Click the Play button on the left to open a session and then I get the error saying current topology is unavailable.

Absolutely. iTest is always in "capture mode". To view what is being captured, simply open the "Capture" view. To do this, from the iTest Development perspective click on "Show View" in the toolbar and select "Capture" view. Or, here's a developer shortcut: press Ctrl+3, type "Capture", then select Capture view from the dialog. Once you have the Capture view open, you will be able to see and select any session and its steps. Right click on a session then select "Add to Test Case" to render steps to a file.

Check your test case's "local topology" setting under its General tab. If you do not want to use a topology, remove the local topology reference. This, of course, presumes that you will not be using the Activities perspective - for its workflow requires a topology entry. You may use the iTest Development perspective instead.

This answers my question if a topology is required. This is unfortunate. My group doesn't use topologies. Is there any way to capture steps in development mode?
