Is IxNetwork session super set of IxTraffic session?

Hello,

We have a requirement to test unicast and multicast traffic and we want to do both the same session. We donot have the setup as of now and do not have a chance to confirm this.

Need your input/experience/workaround on this. Does IxNetwork iTest session supports IxTraffic session specific commands as well? i.e. Is it possible to verify both unicast and multicast packets in the same IxNetwork session.

I presume that it will. As long as long we have the required license on both iTest and Ixia, it is just a matter of loading the appropriate Ixia TCL config. Request you to help/clarify.

Regards,

Karumbs.

I believe there is an variation in the command set of IxTraffic and IxNetwork session in iTest.

Basically IxNetwork has been developed for Layer 3 protocols which would be more specific about protocols statistics result of this layer. You will have to capture the packets and then should verify it unlike in IxTraffic where you can verify the packets using "Show packets" command.

IxTraffic and IxNetwork is two different Ixia Applicaiton (IxExplorer and IxNetwork).

In iTest we have two session profiles to support each of these applications.

In IxNetwork session, you can not execute IxTraffic specific CLI commands directly.

There is a worksaround though. Since both IxTraffic and IxNetwork is based on the Ixia TCL API calI, you can directly call Ixia's TCL API call.

In this case, you need to make sure the desired TCL API library is in your TCLLIBPATH.
