STC RFC 2544 Test

Hi tried to automate a rfc 2544 Test with iTest.

I build the STC config with the RFC2544 Wizard and saved it as xml file.

It tried session type "Spirent TestCenter" and "Spirent TestCenter GUI" to run my xml-config.

With "Spirent TestCenter GUI" it's completely not working.

It just shows the Streams but nothing else the sequencer part is empty.

With "Spirent TestCenter" I can use the sequencer run command but I don't get any results.

The xml-file also includes the STC command sequencer setting and if I run directly on STC it will display the results after the test.

Does this mean that I need to do a rfc2544 manually in iTest and that I can't use the xml file?

Attached the xml-file

There is no reason why configuration in the xml file once loaded will not show up in iTest. We will have to investigate this. You may want to open a separate issue with Fanfare support.

* Bump *

Has any one automated RFC 2544? Any suggestions

Similar request. Loading the xml doesn't seem so optimal. Can't control things on the fly. For every little change, we have to generate a new xml config and load it? doesn't make much sense. There's got to be a better away around this.

Any ideas?

One alternative might be to use Spirent Test Expert, a no-charge downloadable from the Spirent CSC (Customer Support Center).  A 2544 suite is provided with that package.

Todd,

Test expert helps generate a TCL script that can be run from command line (tclsh). case.tcl and case_params.tcl for example.

I need to change IP of each stream as well as location where results are saved.

For former, I'll have to open up, edit case_params.tcl and save. For latter, modify case.tcl (uncomment SaveResults command, change file path\name).

If we have to modify files within iTest, then I could as well change the XML file before loading the STC_GUI session.

Is my understanding correct?

You can edit a Test Expert test case from within Test Expert, say to change the IP addresses.  The method you suggest of editing the case_params.tcl file sounds logical and may also work.  Your suggestion to modify the location where the results are saved is correct.
