Here are two simple ways to create a desktop icon on Linux:

1) Right-click on a empty place on your desktop. Select "Create Launcher" (Gnome) or Create New->File->Link to Application (KDE). Then you put a shortcut name, point the command(application) to <iTest 3.3.1 install directory>/iTest and select itest_48.png as the icon.

2) In a command window, create a soft link:

    $ ln -s <iTest 3.3.1 install directory>/iTest ~/Desktop/iTest_3.3

    Then right-click the icon of this soft link on desktop ->  Properties -> Select Custom Icon...

Both should work for you.
