Error:Can't checkout a license for the selected product edition!

Hi All,

I am facing a problem with licensing. Please indicate if possible. Thanks.

I get an alert while the iTest app tries to access my license server. "Error:Can't checkout a license for the selected product edition!"

I am using an Enterprise-Floating license with uncounted users for avaiable features for my license server. It works well for licensing the iTest App which is running on the same host of the license server with default port.

I get the error if the iTest App runs on another host, although the server status is OK while checking server on the License Sources tab. I try Runtime/Personal/Team and Enterprise one by one, same. Through packet capturing, i find TCP handshake finished between the server and client, and there is traffic back and forth on the TCP connection.

Please take a look at this post:

Basically the problem happens if there are firewalls between the server and client machines. By default, the flex licensing code contacts the server on a well known port - but then connects back to it on a dynamic port. This dynamic port may get blocked based on your network set up.

Hi KumarS, thanks for your feedback.

I think it's different from an Unable Connect problem.

There are no firewalls between license server and the client. I tried to connect both server and client with a same switch and have disabled windows firewall on both hosts...Same.

I tried another Vendor port 34567 rather than 27000, the status of server is still OK while clicking Check Server through iTest App and TCP connection with server has been established with port 34567.

iTest App running on the same host as which licensing server daemon resides can get licensed through either port 27000 or 34567.

When monitoring network traffic, do you find that after the initial connection and handshake on 27000, another connection gets opened between the license server and your iTest client?

Thanks PatrickH.

No, i can't find another connection for the licensing traffic. Do you have additional input on this?

I find my license is an uncounted Node-Locked license with only my HOSTID included for all the features(Under each INCREMENT line), although I add SERVER Lines in the license file and can get licensed through 127.0.0.1 with indicating an Enterprise-Floating license. I also tried to get licensed for iTest App on my local host through browsing the license file rather than through licensing server(127.0.0.1), it works well.

So the license should be used by only my host with uncounted times, no needs of a server daemon(and cannot do it in this way), and i need a Floating license for this scenario, am i right?

Did you get a node-locked license which you are trying to use as a floating license through a server?

There is a utility called "lmstat" which you can run to see how many licenses does your server have to serve.

I suggest that you contact Fanfare customer support.  It seems like this problem has been lingering and I would think that they can work directly with you and resolve the situation more quickly.

It does sound like you have a node-locked license file.  This cannot be used by a license server, only by the PC that it was node-locked to.

Thanks all.

We have asked for a Floating license.
