Problem installing the examples

Hi

I have encountered the following error when attempting to install the examples (examples32.psf)

I installed a eval copy last week and then installed the examples32.psf shortly afterwards and it installed without error.

I decided it would be best if I renamed examples32.psf to a new name so that I can modify the examples for my own use.

This would allow me to change things without affecting the original examples.

I renamed the file & attempted another import (as per the guidelines) and this error appeared

org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: RA layer request failed
svn: Server sent unexpected return value (405 Method Not Allowed) in response to PROPFIND request for '/examples/releases/itest-3.2/alcatel_litespan_tl1'

org.tigris.subversion.javahl.ClientException: RA layer request failed
svn: Server sent unexpected return value (405 Method Not Allowed) in response to PROPFIND request for '/examples/releases/itest-3.2/alcatel_litespan_tl1'

I restarted iTest & tried again but got the same error. I then decided that I'd screwed something up so I thought it would be best to uninstall & reinstall FF.

I tried this but I'm still getting the same error  ! - what's going on ??

Has anyone seen this error before ?

Any help appreciated.

Just tried it myself. It seems like examples server is down. That is why you are getting this error. We will try to get this up as soon as possible.

Jim,

We are working on getting our public Subversion repository back online as quickly as possible.  Very sorry for the inconvenience.  There is a workaround to obtain the examples and I will send a message to you with that information.

If anyone else also needs the workaround to obtain these examples, please send me a message and I will reply with that info.

You are behind a proxy which does not support SVN. You will not be able to get examples unless you can go around your proxy and connect directly to the internet. It is known Subversion or proxy software issue.

You can ask Fanfare support to provide you with these examples as a zip file.

I only attempted importing directly via SVN when the import using the downloaded zip files failed.

As I mentioned, this worked when I did it first time with no errors but now doesn't work.

I'm not aware of anything on my system that could be causing this problem because it looks internal to iTest.

The error is not giving any clue as to what is actually going wrong.

Error is from Subclipse - an open source software which ships as part of iTest to provide "Subversion" integration. It is saying (though very cryptically) that there are problems communicating with the server. This happens when your machine is accessing internet through a proxy rather than directly. It is a known "Subversion" problem with no known solution - other than going directly to internet.

If you have a zip file of examples, you should be able to import projects from it without any problem and you should not see these errors.

I acknowledge what you are saying about there being a proxy involved but I'm not behind one !

I've tried reading the examples32.psf from my local HD and get the same error.

The examples32.psf file has references to SVN URLs so iTest must be accessing these to download the actual content of each test.

Could this be a DNS problem ?

I am convinced that this problem is an error with the URLs embedded in the examples32.psf file.

I have tried the same thing on a new installation (new laptop) and I get the same problem. This worked last week.

I suspect that the files have been removed from the SVN repository.

Can anyone get this to work ??

That makes it clear. I thought you had a zip file of projects. "psf" files are simply a list of locations where one can obtain projects from. It does not contain any actual contents of these projects.

If it was working last week and not working this week, may be something has changed in your network. We will try it here and make sure that the server is up and we can get these examples from the server - but from the error message I am 99% certain that is a proxy issue. If you google for your problem, you will see that other people who have encountered this error are behind certain types of proxies.

Anyway - you can request Fanfare customer support for an actual zip file of projects contents.
