Fanfare releases updates to iTest on a regular basis; these updates generally contain patches or bug fixes. You should update iTest if you need the bug fixes or whenever instructed by your System Administrator. Fanfare recommends updating to the latest release of iTest on a regular basis.
Steps to update iTest:
Note: The update site will only show you the updates that are applicable and available for your iTest version, and the update site will only contain minor releases, patches and bug fixes. You cannot update major releases using the update site. For example, you can update iTest v3.3.1 to iTest v3.3.2, but you cannot update iTest v3.3.x to iTest v3.4.
Using a Network Proxy?
If your company is using a proxy server to access the Internet, you will have to enter the proxy information to access the update site from within iTest. Failure to do so may result in the error that says “Network connection failed during the search.”.
Steps to set the proxy server in iTest:

If I have several workspaces, do I need to update the software in each of them, or once per system?
I don't think so, as long as you are running the same copy of installed iTest.
When you update the software, it only updates the iTest jars (features and plugins). It will not touch your workspace.

Oh, and remember to do this as root on a linux system if you initially installed as root.
...Yeah, oops!
There are issues. Install as root on linux. Now, run not as root. And what's this question mark directory? It has derby.log in it. Is this because I tried to update as non-root first?
eclipse.buildId=unknown
java.version=1.6.0_13
java.vendor=Sun Microsystems Inc.

Command-line arguments: -os linux -ws gtk -arch x86

/home/sptest/?/.iTestConfiguration_3.4/org.eclipse.update/last.config.stamp (No such file or directory)
When you run iTest as an ordinary user for the first time, iTest will create a ".iTestConfiguration_3.4" folder under your home directory. I don't know how does this "?" come from. My suggestion is that you delete this "?" folder completely and lunch iTest again. It will create a new ".iTestConfiguration_3.4" folder in your home.

Hi,
Are the username and password same as the those I get for Technical support? I enter those one but the user/password window pop up to ask me again.
Or do I have to apply another one?
Technical support should give you the correct username and password. Make sure you ask for the particular version of iTest. 3.4 is different than 3.3.
I have Version: 4.0.2, Build: 52893. Can I use the 'update' process outlined above to upgrade to 4.1 or does it need a full install?
Right now if I select 'Check for updates', it says there is nothing to update.
I believe you need to use the procedure outlined above for installing new features when moving from 4.0 to 4.1.
We need follow the same procedure to upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1. But right now 4.1 update is not available to upgrade from here. I hope it will come soon.

Patrick, Right now if I select 'Check for updates', it says there is nothing to update.
4.1 update not available through that mode yet (as the other member mentioned)?
