Why does it become a linger license? We havn't borrowed it. We always do a checkout. What is the number wiith the linger keyword? I thought its the seconds left to timeout. But it doesn't seem to decrease.

No way to kill it ?

A license will become a linger license when we borrow it for a specific period of time. The linger time is displayed in seconds, for how much time we have borrowed, the time will not decrease.

In your case a user “arts” has borrowed the license on 9th May (5/9 5:14 (linger: 153840)) for two days. A linger value 153840 is approximately equal to 43 hours (5:14 + 42.46). So you have to wait until the end of 10th May.

We cannot kill or remove these licenses. Only way is to return the licenses who has borrowed it.

Could you please try to return the borrowed licenses from the client machine (INBAHRPC00890).

To do this, open iTest in the client machine, go to Help - > Configure iTest Licensing - > Click on "Return All Borrowed Licenses" under "Configuration" tab.

To stop and start the license server we use the following commands:

"./lmutil lmdown -c <license file path>"

"./lmgrd -c <license file path> &"

Hi,

The screenshot below shows that its reserved till May 10, 11:58pm PDT.

But the "Return All Borrowed Licenses" button has been greyed-out. So how do we return this borrowed license ??

Tried to creating a new borrow license & Returning the borrowed license also. It works.

But the earlier borrowed license is not overwritten...Due to which the license still lingers along & cannot be used by others.

Will restarting the License server (using the commands), solve this problem ??

Best Regards,

MK

Hi MK,

When we borrow the licenses the status should show as “Borrowed”.

Due to some reason it is showing “license borrowed until May 10, 2011 …” under iTest Editions and in “iTest Modules” the status is showing “Checked Out”.

Could you please try to borrow the licenses until May 11, 2011 and check the status, whether it is changed to Borrowed or not. If the status shows Borrowed, click on “Return All Borrowed Licenses”. Please make sure that you have connected to the license server and the status should be OK.

Please try this and if you are still facing the same issue then attach the log file of the license server (./lmgrd –c <license file path> -l <log file path>).

Restarting the license server will not resolve the issue.

Thanks,

Lakshmi

We borrowed the licenses till may 11 and it showed the status as borrowed in both the places. Returned all borrowed licences and it goes back to the old state with the licenses checked out but the Enterprise license status saying "borrowed till may 10".

And the lmutil stats still shows the Enterprsie license as linger. And not able to checkout or borrow from any other PCs.

Attached screenshots and log.
